A few nights ago I had the pleasure of covering the Glitz & Girlpower awards at Briza On The Bay in Miami. This star-studded event was all about women empowerment and the ladies showed up and showed out! From superstar Actress and Humanitarian LisaRaye McCoy, to Miami’s own power house celebs such as recording artist Ace Hood, WEDR's own, Shelby Rushin-Oden (pictured above), Miami Tip of Love & Hip Hop Miami and celeb makeup artist Michele Latrice.
The Glitz & Girlpower awards was created by Miami’s own Rockstarr Diva. As a vet in the media relations field Diva has worked with some of Miami’s greats like Trina, Flo Rida, Pleasure P and Supa Cindy! The atmosphere was so positive and uplifting…

“Through struggle, heartbreak, trials and tribulations we at Glitz & GirlPower think it's imperative to uplift women who overcome difficult situations and find the strength to move forward, ambitiously working to make their dreams a reality, and in doing so they inspire other women and young girls all around the world. We empower dreamers to become achievers.” Imagine a world where women can work with and for each other in order to ensure the success of every ambitious woman, one woman at a time and you have Glitz & Girlpower.
The highlight of my night I must say was both acceptance speeches given by LisaRaye and Robin V!
LisaRaye who is very close friends with Diva took the time to speak so much positivity into everyone in the room. She stressed the importance of showing up for one another and sewing seeds of encouragement into your friends or even a stranger. Photographer Robin V did not deviate to far off with the message she delivered through her speech. As she spoke about her willingness to help other women she became a little emotional. You could see the purity in every word she spoke.
This night was truly one to remember and I can’t wait to see what next year brings!!
